Norse Care Announces Closure of Burman House Residential Care Home

Norse Care, a care home provider across Norfolk, has announced the forthcoming closure of Burman House, located in Terrington St. John.

The decision comes as part of our ongoing efforts to meet the evolving needs of residents, many of whom require increasingly complex care.

We are continuously evaluating our estates and their facilities to ensure they can accommodate the specialised equipment and support necessary for delivering high-quality complex care. While the home has historically met the needs of its residents, the growing complexity of care required by its residents has made the current room sizes and configurations inadequate for delivering high-quality, complex care. As a result, Burman House will officially close in early December this year.

Jo Huxtable, Senior Director of Norse Care, expressed regret over the decision: “We are saddened to close Burman House, but the wellbeing of our residents is our top priority. The building is no longer suitable for delivering the level of care required. We are working closely with residents and their families to ensure everyone finds a new home that meets their needs. We will work tirelessly to make sure all those at Burman House are relocated and settled within their new homes before Christmas.”

“We understand how difficult this news is for our dedicated Burman House team. We are committed to supporting them during this transition and aim to redeploy as many staff as possible to other homes within our organisation.”

We have already begun discussions with residents and their families to understand their preferences and assist them in finding appropriate alternative care settings. Some residents may choose to move to other Norse Care homes with available spaces. Our key priority is to ensure a smooth transition for all residents and their families, minimising uncertainty during this time.

We know Burman House has an important role within the local community and wish to express our gratitude to all those who have supported the home over the years. We remain committed to providing person-centred care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our residents.
