Christmas comes early as Laburnum Grove celebrates outstanding CQC inspection report
Christmas has come early for tenants and staff at Laburnum Grove where we are celebrating our 5th outstanding CQC inspection report.
Inspectors visited in November 2019 when they spoke to tenants, relatives of tenants and staff at the scheme where people live independently in their own flat under a tenancy from Flagship Housing. Care and support at the scheme is provided by NorseCare. Within the 5 key elements of the inspection report, Laburnum Grove was rated at outstanding in 2 areas of the overall report – receiving praise for the responsive and well-led aspects of the report, and good for the safe, caring and effective elements.
In the report, inspectors enthused that: “Everyone we spoke with including people, relatives, staff and external professionals said they would recommend the service to others.” They also mentioned how “Staff had no hesitation in going the extra mile to provide people with comfort and compassion when needed.”
One tenant described to the inspectors how well supported they felt: “There is nowhere else I would rather be than here. I am not on my own. They are like family to me. They just seem to know me and how I am feeling without me having to tell them.”
A relative told inspectors how living at Laburnum Grove has changed their loved one’s life: “They used to be a very social person but then became very socially withdrawn. Since being here they are always smiling, happy and socialising with people. They are back to their old self. It is so great to see them laughing and enjoying their passion for singing again.”
Sue Brockett – our registered manager at Laburnum Grove praised her staff and the tenants: “I’m so pleased for everyone at the scheme. We are all a big family, looking after each other. We were delighted that the inspection team were able to see how tenants are cared for and how staff enjoy supporting them. We’re a big believer in being part of our local community, and welcome opportunities for everyone to come and see us.”
Laburnum Grove is NorseCare’s 5th overall outstanding inspection report, joining Westfields and Munhaven care homes as well as Lisbon Court and The Lawns housing with care schemes. NorseCare now has 14% of its homes and schemes rated as outstanding; nationally, just 4% of care is rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
