Double award joy at Norfolk Care Awards
We are celebrating a double award win at the Norfolk Care Awards 2020. Westfields care home in Swaffham, West Norfolk won the Dignity and Respect in Everyday Life award, while Karen Knight received the Harold Bodmer Outstanding Achievement award in recognition of her 30+ years working in social care and the incredible achievements of NorseCare in 2019, when we received five outstanding CQC inspection reports for the care and support as well as national award recognition in the Laing Buisson awards and the National Dementia Care awards.
We also had three other finalists at the event. Robert Kett Court housing with care scheme was shortlisted in the Excellent person centred care and support category, Munhaven care home in North Norfolk were finalists in Excellence in delivering dementia care category and Jo Bolton, Manager at Westfields was a finalist in the Motivational Leadership category.
Judges at the awards felt the staff at Westfields empowered residents to have a say in the day to day running of the home, with dignity display boards promoting what it means to them, ensuring that it is at the heart of the care they receive. Visitors to Westfields immediately feel the homely, warm atmosphere and get a clear understanding of the culture at the home and how staff demonstrate their love and passion to all the residents.
Karen’s award recognised her achievements from over 30 years in social care and over eight years as Managing Director. During her leadership, we have become the largest care provider in East Anglia. Our ambitious new build programme culminated with £30 million plus developments of new housing with care and dementia care schemes across Norfolk including the impressive Bowthorpe Care Village project on the outskirts of Norwich and Lydia Eva Court dementia care home in Gorleston, near Great Yarmouth. More recently she led the redevelopment of the stunning Mountfield care home, providing specialist dementia care, which opened on 6th January 2020. Having achieved ‘Outstanding’ CQC ratings in five of our homes and housing with care schemes, we are rated as one of the top rated care home providers in the UK.
Martin Rix, Chief Operating Officer, is delighted with the achievements: “The Norfolk Care Awards give amazing recognition to the care and support provided to many people. I am thrilled that we have received these awards and it is wonderful recognition of the high quality care that we provide in our homes and schemes and to Karen’s personal contribution over her long career in social care.”
