Lifelong Norwich City fan celebrates his 90th birthday at Carrow Road
A lifelong Norwich City fan celebrated his 90th birthday with a trip to Norwich City Football Club. Leslie Fitt, known as ‘Ginger’, lives at Green Lane View in Aylsham and has been a Norwich City supporter all his life. So, when Team Leader Nicola Lincoln set up a ‘Wishing Wall’ as Green Lane View, Leslie asked for Delia Smith to come and cook him lunch for his birthday! Unfortunately the football club couldn’t make that happen, but instead invited Leslie to attend the match against Swansea City on Friday 8th March as their special guest. Nicola accompanied Leslie to the game, where they both watched as Emi Buendia sealed the important 1-0 win!
When he was told of the news, Leslie was overwhelmed: “I never thought I’d get to see another live game again! Years ago, I actually played on the pitch, so it’s going to be fantastic to go back to see them play, especially as they’re doing so well this season.”
Leslie’s 90th birthday itself is on Thursday 9th May – 4 days after Norwich City’s last game the season.
