Norfolk County Council: Cabinet to review future of care homes

Norfolk County Council announces strategic transformation plans for Adult Social Care.

Norfolk County Council has today (16 January) released cabinet papers outlining the latest proposals for the future transformation of adult social care across the county.  These include information about the future of the care contract with Norse Care beyond March 2026.  At this stage, these proposals are still under consideration, and no final decisions have been made.

As part of these proposals, the Council is recommending the move of Norse Care’s 20 residential care services to Stow Healthcare through a share sale. This approach aims to secure a sustainable, high-quality model of care for our communities into the future.

If Norfolk County Council agrees a deal with Stow Healthcare, residents of the homes would continue to live there, and existing Norse Care staff would be employed by the new owner.

We understand that this announcement may prompt questions, and we want to reassure our residents, their families, and our staff that continuity of care remains the highest priority as we continue through this process.

We acknowledge the wider challenges facing the adult social care sector nationally and support Norfolk County Council’s ambitions to develop a sustainable, long-term model of care for local communities.

Throughout this process, Norse Care remains fully committed to delivering high-quality care and ensuring that everyone affected receives clear information, reassurance, and support.  We will continue to work closely with the Council and our wider partners as the proposal develops to help shape a stable and sustainable future for adult social care in Norfolk.
