Norse Care, a provider of care services across Norfolk, has announced plans to close Linden Court residential care home in Watton. The closure will take place by the end of April 2025.

The decision follows a comprehensive review of the organisation’s estate, facilities, and services to meet residents’ growing and complex care needs.  Linden Court has served its community well for many years but no longer meets the requirements necessary to provide high-quality, complex care.

“Changes in fire safety regulations, rising costs in social care, and the substantial investment required to adapt Linden Court for increasingly complex care needs mean the home is no longer suitable for our residents,” explained Jo Huxtable, Senior Director of Norse Care. “Closing the home is a deeply difficult decision, but the wellbeing and safety of our residents remain our highest priority.”

Norse Care is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for residents and their families.  Discussions have already begun to understand individual preferences and assist residents in finding alternative care arrangements.

Jo Huxtable added: “We are working closely with residents and their families to ensure everyone finds a new home that meets their needs.  We aim to relocate and settle all residents into appropriate care settings over the next few months.”

The closure will also impact the dedicated team at Linden Court. Norse Care has pledged to support staff during this transition, with plans to redeploy team members to other homes within the organisation.

“We understand how difficult this news is for our staff, and we are committed to providing them with the necessary support and opportunities during this challenging time,” said Jo Huxtable.

Linden Court has played an important role in the Watton community for many years, and Norse Care expressed its gratitude to all who have supported the home.  The organisation remains committed to delivering person-centred care and achieving the best possible outcomes for all residents.
