Norse Care builds on successful dementia partnership with Norwich City Community Sports Foundation at Mountfield
Residents at Mountfield Care Home have enjoyed a special visit from Duncan’s Club, a community programme supporting people living with dementia through social activities and shared experiences.
The visit marks the start of a new partnership between Norse Care and Norwich City Community Sports Foundation at Mountfield, following the success of an existing collaboration at another one of our homes.
During the session, Mountfield residents took part in a variety of activities, including a quiz, singalong and memory-based exercises, all designed to encourage reminiscence and social interaction.
Duncan’s Club uses activities inspired by sport and shared interests to encourage conversation, connection and wellbeing among people living with dementia. The programme is delivered by Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, the official charity partner of Norwich City Football Club.
Sue Quantrill, a volunteer from the Community Sports Foundation, said:
“Our goal with these sessions has always been to give meaning to people. We like to work in collaboration with the carers in order to provide the best experience possible for the residents. They could forget what had happened in the room, but the feeling will always be there with them.”
Bethany Tooke, Registered Manager at Mountfield, said:
“For people living with dementia, opportunities to reminisce, talk, laugh and connect with others can be incredibly valuable. During the session with Duncan’s Club, we could see the positive impact of this session with the residents. This is exactly the kind of meaningful experience we promote across the service.”
The partnership reflects Norse Care’s continued work with local organisations to bring new experiences into its homes and support the wellbeing of residents.
