NorseCare’s local care heroes shortlisted for prestigious awards
We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists in three categories at the 2021 Norfolk Care Awards.
Among the nominees is NorseCare’s housing with care scheme at The Lawns, in Great Yarmouth, as well as Liliana Simionescu, from Harriet Court, in Norwich, and Karen Claydon, from Robert Kett Court, in Wymondham.
All three finalists have been shortlisted within the ‘Local Care Hero’ category for their respective regions, with the awards celebrating good practice in social care, recognising those services and individuals who go the extra mile.
Following a public vote – which we encourage you all to take part in – the winners for each of the categories will be announced at a virtual event on 16 September 2021.
NorseCare’s Chief Operating Officer, Martin Rix, said: “The Norfolk Care Awards give much deserved recognition to the care and support provided to people across the county, and I would like to pass on my congratulations to each of our finalists.
“Being shortlisted for these awards is testament to the excellent work that all of our staff do to provide quality care for all those people that live with us, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the pandemic over the last 18 months.”
Here’s a quick rundown of the finalists from NorseCare and their reactions to being shortlisted for the awards.
The Lawns – Local Care Hero for Great Yarmouth & Waveney
The Lawns is a housing with care scheme in Great Yarmouth, where NorseCare provides care and support to tenants who live in their own flat.
Like all of our homes and schemes, staff at The Lawns always go the extra mile for tenants, and this has been on display throughout the pandemic, continuing to provide personalised care tailored to tenants’ unique needs.
This has also included thinking outside the box, ensuring that tenants have been able to continue to safely enjoy a wide range of activities, which they love to take part in.
Manager, Carole Nisbett, said: “We are all absolutely delighted to have made it to the final two in this category. I’m proud to be surrounded by such a great group of people here at The Lawns, who I believe are all local heroes, going above and beyond during what has been an extremely challenging time.”
Liliana Simionescu, Harriet Court – Local Care Hero for Norwich
Liliana has worked as a Team Leader at Harriet Court for five years, and is passionate about her job and making a difference to the people that she and the team cares for.
Since the start of the pandemic, she has quickly adapted to new ways of working, as well as recognising the increased emotional needs of tenants during this challenging period.
By being there to support them, she and the rest of the team have become a part of each tenant’s extended family, offering reassurance and support, while also ensuring that all tenants remain connected to their loved ones as much as possible.
Liliana expressed her delight on being nominated and shortlisted for the award, saying that she was overwhelmed and honoured.
Karen Claydon, Robert Kett Court – Local Care Hero for South Norfolk
Karen has worked as a Wellbeing Lead at Robert Kett Court for over five years, and is a highly regarded member of the team, bringing her unique energy and enthusiasm to help support the wellbeing of the people that she and the team cares for.
Over the last year, she has continually gone above and beyond to support tenants, while also spending much of her own spare time planning some incredible events and activities.
This has included highlights such as a ‘Beach Day’, bringing all the fun of the seaside to Robert Kett Court, complete with sand, paddling pools and candy floss.
Karen said: “It truly is an honour to be shortlisted for this award, and my colleagues and our great tenants make my work an absolute pleasure.”
We wish all of our finalists the very best of luck!
