Triple award joy at Norfolk Care Awards

NorseCare’s local care heroes have been celebrated at the 2021 Norfolk Care Awards, taking out multiple awards following a public vote.

Among the winners was NorseCare’s housing with care scheme at The Lawns, in Great Yarmouth, as well as Liliana Simionescu, from Harriet Court, in Norwich, and Karen Claydon, from Robert Kett Court, in Wymondham.

All three winners were finalists within the ‘Local Care Hero’ category for their respective regions, with the awards celebrating good practice in social care, recognising those services and individuals who go the extra mile.

Team Leader, Sarah Manners, from Laburnum Grove, in Thetford, was also recognised during the virtual awards ceremony as one of the county’s outstanding care leaders.

NorseCare’s Chief Operating Officer, Martin Rix, said: “I am so thrilled for each of our award winners, who have all demonstrated outstanding levels of care and commitment during what has been an extremely challenging period, constantly going above and beyond for our residents and tenants.

“For their amazing work to be recognised in this way is just brilliant, we are all very proud of them.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for each of our finalists too. We greatly value the support we receive within our communities across Norfolk and Suffolk.”

Norse Group Chief Executive Officer, Dean Wetteland, also passed on his congratulations to NorseCare’s local care heroes.

“This is a phenomenal achievement, which underlines how our care homes and housing with care schemes continue to be among the best in the county,” Dean said.

“All of our care services are based around supporting people in happy and comfortable environments, and our caring and compassionate staff are at the heart of everything we do.”

Here’s a quick rundown of each of our award winners from NorseCare.

The Lawns – Local Care Hero for Great Yarmouth & Waveney

The Lawns is a housing with care scheme in Great Yarmouth, where NorseCare provides care and support to tenants who live in their own flat.

Like all of our homes and schemes, staff at The Lawns always go the extra mile for tenants, and this has been on display throughout the pandemic, continuing to provide personalised care tailored to tenants’ unique needs.

This has also included thinking outside the box, ensuring that tenants have been able to continue to safely enjoy a wide range of activities, which they love to take part in.

Liliana Simionescu, Harriet Court – Local Care Hero for Norwich

Liliana has worked as a Team Leader at Harriet Court for five years, and is passionate about her job and making a difference to the people that she and the team cares for.

Since the start of the pandemic, she has quickly adapted to new ways of working, as well as recognising the increased emotional needs of tenants during this challenging period.

By being there to support them, she and the rest of the team have become a part of each tenant’s extended family, offering reassurance and support, while also ensuring that all tenants remain connected to their loved ones as much as possible.

Karen Claydon, Robert Kett Court – Local Care Hero for South Norfolk

Karen has worked as a Wellbeing Lead at Robert Kett Court for over five years, and is a highly regarded member of the team, bringing her unique energy and enthusiasm to help support the wellbeing of the people that she and the team cares for.

Over the last year, she has continually gone above and beyond to support tenants, while also spending much of her own spare time planning some incredible events and activities.

This has included highlights such as a ‘Beach Day’, bringing all the fun of the seaside to Robert Kett Court, complete with sand, paddling pools and candy floss.
